Desktop Manager

Desktop Manager is a virtual desktop program and Windows shell. A virtual desktop program gives you more work space, you use a control of some kind and you switch to another virtual screen where you can run different applications. So, instead of hunting for windows behind other windows on one cramped screen you can keep them separate and switch to them when you need to work with them. A Windows shell is what you see on the desktop, the interface for interacting with the system, it includes the icons, folders, the taskbar, etc. Desktop Manager is what you make of it, these are your options:
You can just use the main executable by itself for a virtual desktop program with each desktop having it’s own display mode, colours, and wallpaper.
You can use the modules to extend the functionality of Desktop Manager (refered to from here on as DM) to add more preferences and functionality, including the ability to have a hot bar of your most frequently used icons in a strip to the right of your desktop, keep an eye on your ram usage and check your email.
Finally, you can replace Explorer with DM as your Windows shell. In the Extras part of the archive are special modules that provide extra functionality for this purpose. Needless to say, this is still experimental in nature, there is little to no documentation for this kind of thing available to programmers.
Features:
No MFC used resulting in small executables.
Each desktop can have it’s own display resolution, system colours, and wallpaper image.
Modular to the extreme, very extendable and customizable.
Can be used as a Windows replacement shell.
Works under Win95/Win98 and WinNT SP4/Win2K.
